1. In the night of Holy Saturday, during the solemn Easter Vigil, "mother of all vigils", this silence will be broken by the singing of the Alleluia which announces Christ's Resurrection and proclaims the victory of light over darkness, of life over death.

Dans la nuit du Samedi Saint, au cours de la Veillée pascale solennelle, « mère de toutes les veillées », ce silence sera interrompu par le chant de l'Alléluia, qui annonce la résurrection du Christ et proclame la victoire de la lumière sur les ténèbres, de la vie sur la mort.

2. Late at night the solemn Easter Vigil will begin, during which the joyful singing of the Gloria and Easter Alleluia will well up from the hearts of the newly baptized and the entire Christian community, rejoicing because Christ is risen and has conquered death.

La nuit venue commencera la Veillée pascale solennelle, au cours de laquelle, dans chaque Eglise, les chants joyeux du Gloria et de l'Alleluia pascal s'élèveront du coeur des nouveaux baptisés et de toute la communauté chrétienne, joyeuse car le Christ est ressuscité et a vaincu la mort.

3. During the Vigil, I entrusted to them with great affection that "At the dawn of the third millennium I see in you the "sentinels'", and the following day, in the homily of the closing Mass, I told them that if they were what they should be, they "would set the whole world ablaze!".

Au cours de la veillée, je leur confiais avec une grande affection : "Je vois en vous les sentinelles du matin, en cette aube du troisième millénaire", et le lendemain, au cours de l'homélie de la Messe de clôture, je leur dis que, s'ils savaient être ce qu'ils devaient être, "ils auraient mis le feu au monde entier".
